This is a short article describing how you can drag and drop files from your Desktop/Windows Explorer to your Windows Form application. In this article, we will drag text files from the desktop and drop it on our WinForm application, to display the contents of the text files.

Ajax Control Toolkit released for .NET 3.5 SP1

I just released the latest version of the Ajax Control Toolkit for .NET 3.5 SP1. This is an intermediary release that provides a version of the Toolkit that is built against the .NET Framework 3.5 SP1. It contains a new control, MultiHandleSlider, built by Daniel Crenna (thanks, Daniel, you're the hero of this release) and integrates patches contributed by the community. A big thank you to all who contributed (see their names in the hall of fame ). The sample web site is not yet updated to this new release, this will be done in a couple of days. I will update this post once this is done. What's next? New ASP.NET MVC Videos and Tutorials

15 new ASP.NET MVC videos were just published at the http://www.ASP.net/mvc website. The first 10 videos are basic tutorials on the ASP.NET MVC framework. If you haven’t had a chance to play with ASP.NET MVC yet, these tutorials are a great introduction. The second set of 5 videos is part of an ongoing video series: ASP.NET MVC Pair Programming. In these videos, I pair with a prominent community expert to build an entire ASP.NET MVC application from start to finish (because of time constraints – a very, very simple application). The goal is to emphasize the process of building a web application instead of the product . Image Generation is released to CodePlex

I'm really happy to announce that earlier this week we released a new feature called Image Generation to the ASP.NET CodePlex site . You can get a link directly to the page supporting this feature by clicking on: http://www.codeplex.com/aspnet/Wiki/View.aspx?title=WebForms&referringTitle=Home .   There was a feature that was in Beta 1 for Visual Studio 2005 (Whitbey) called DynamicImage that provided a control for generating images and an image service for serving them. This feature was sadly cut because some of the other parts of the framework it depended on were cut.   Image Generation is basically work to bring this type of feature back into the framework. ASP.NET Futures - Generating Dynamic Images with HttpHandlers gets Easier

There's a treasure trove of interesting stuff over at http://www.codeplex.com/aspnet . It's a bunch of potential future stuff that the ASP.NET team is working on. That's where you can get builds of ASP.NET MVC, Dynamic Data Futures, and new AJAX stuff. Two days ago a new CodePlex release snuck up on the site. It's a potential new feature , so it could go nowhere, or we could make T-shirts and sing its praises. Could go either way. No promises. Known issues for ASP.NET with .NET 3.5 SP1

Just wanted to give a heads up on two issues that we are aware of that were introduced with .NET 3.5 SP1. Issue:  The HtmlForm action attribute is now honored when defined in declarative markup. Reason: 3.5 SP1 added a settable Action property to the HtmlForm type.  This new feature makes it much easier for developers to explicitly set the form's action attribute for scenarios where a developer wants to use a different Url than the normal postback-generated Url.  However this change also means that if the action attribute has been set in an .aspx page's declarative markup, ASP.NET will use the setting from the markup when rendering a <form /> element.
