Adding AJAX controls to an existing 2.0 website

Hey all.

I have a website which was written in asp .net 2.0

I now wish to add some AJAX controls to a new page in the website. I am using Visual Web Developer 2008 which includes AJAX controls. When I start a new website I can choose the controls from the toolbox, but when I open my existing website, there are no AJAX controls in the toolbox! When I go into 'Tools->Choose Toolbox Items'  the update panel and script controls are actually ticked, so I would expect to see and be able to choose them.

Any ideas why I cant? I cant update the website to be 3.5 as the live server only has 2.0 installed, and the manager is perhaps hesitant to install 3.5 to it just now incase there are any knockon effects to any of the existing sites.

Thanks, Paul.
